  1. In this video Bart Sympson was tossed into a class full of brainacs who seemed already to be functioning as experts in their specific domains. But we already know that he does not belong to a background of intellectualism or well grounded academic knowledge. Actually we can say that regardless of his IQ level. I believe that this school of the gifted was missing a key part of the foundation.

    2. In the most general sense, constructivism usually means encouraging students to use active techniques (experiments, real-world problem solving) to create more knowledge and then to reflect on and talk about what they are doing and how their understanding is changing. This was the reason when Bart Sympson was sent to the school of geniuses he was asked to do his own will according to his interest and learning. And we noticed that he chose the book of comics, as per his complete interest.
Actually all the students regardless of their age and experiences, they were free to learn as per their interest and thats what is constructivism. In other words it is actually "hands on learning".

  2. this case, there can be two scenarios. Either Bart is going to observe and then relate the discussion to his field of interest i.e. Comics and thus construct knowledge for himself or he can try and learn what the other participants are talking about in order to live up to his new label: genius. In the second case he might stop pursuing his own interest and thus result in lashing out in the end again. In case of Lisa, she got a facilitator whose goal is to encourage and motivate her, building on her interests and readiness.
In constructivism learning occurs through active engagement in learning through experience. The learners need to be engaged and motivated by posing essential questions or challenging them with some real life problems. They try to solve the problems through different means and in doing so construct knowledge for themselves by reflecting on what worked or did not work in the situation. They continuously assimilate and accommodate their knowledge to adapt to current situations.

  3. Effective learning is not constricted to constructivism or any other specific theory. It occurs through a blend of these theories depending upon the content of learning or a situation.

  4. Well while watching this video the important thing was that Bart had a great IQ level ..... Which I as an educator would say that we can measure a how much a child can be genius ....Secondly, the most important was the environment to which Bart was introduced was a perfect one but he was left behind in all the discussion as all the perfectionist were having computegreat views while Bart's way of learning was different he choose a comic book .. Highly visual learner. On the other hand Lisa was in a normal school environment and got a teacher
who was a true facilitator and guided Lisa to publish her work which gave an incentive to the little girl where there was no unusual classroom environment so for having constructive approach the facilitator plays an important role

  5. Every learner is talented in their own specific way or area of interest. Their talents just need to be tapped in. But most of the times true talent is overlooked when all the learners are taught and assessed on the same level. The most important step is to know the learners and how they learn and then provide them with stimulating and engaging environment where they can excel. The facilatator plays an important role at every step by identifying learning preferences of the learners and then providing with opportunities and differentiated strategies for effective learning.
This happened for both Bart and Lisa when they were provided with opportunities to pursue their fields of interest. Bart was different and as happens in many cases, he was labelled as a difficult child who is uninterested and lashes out without giving a thought that he might actually be a genius which is why everyone was shocked to find out that he infact was a genius.

  6. Yes Sana you are right, as Bart Sympson was a difficult child and teachers were unable to handle him, that is why instead of labelling the child the teachers marked him as a genius child, soI that his parents may not feel something bad about it.
On the other side, Lisa was an intelligent girl, who was more encouraged by her teacher.
Here we can clearly know that how a teacher plays such a vital role in developing a child's psychology and better personality. Plus, every child is different from the other child, we need to find out how.
I personally believe that the school in which Bart Sypmson was admitted, there was lacking of the guidance. How a child can learn in such an environment without guidance or facilitation.
In addition to all this, we noticed that Bart picked the comic book for his interest, it showed that he was a visual learner.

    1. I don't doubt the fact that Bart is a genuis child. Infact, i agree that because of apparant behaviour and attitude, the true potential of a learner is often overlooked and is labelled as a difficult child.
Constructivism is letting a learner explore and investigate on his own and construct knowledge for himself based on his level of readiness.

  7. ‘the teacher supplies the “scaffold” for learning, but the learner is expected to
be active and to take responsibility for their own learning; this school.of the gifted was a student-centered rather
    than a teacher-centred learning paradigm’

  8. The true indication of successful teaching is measured by the students' ability to grasp course material effectively, and then use that knowledge beyond the classroom. Like in the case of Lisa, as she was encouraged to go beyond.

  9. Constructivism is activity based experiential learning of a child based on his inclinations and interests facilitated by the teacher. He interprets and infers on his own and shares discusses his findings with his peers.
The Simpsons video clearly depicts how a teacher is a facilitator, motivator and a mentor who encourages a student to explore his potential and stretch it beyond expectations
